Orrin Getz

Vice Chair

Before he retired in 2010, Mr. Getz was the Telecommunications Manager for the Empire State Development Corporation for over 29 years where he was responsible for the design, planning, installation and operation of telephone systems, voice and data networks corporate wide. 

Mr. Getz served as a First Lieutenant in the Signal Corps of the United States Army from June, 1962 to December, 1964 where he was assigned to the Seventh Army Stock Control Center in Zweibruecken, Germany. He remains active with veteran’s organizations in Rockland County. 

Mr. Getz is a member of the Clarkstown Transportation Infrastructure Task Force, with a long history of transportation advocacy. He led efforts to improve West-of-Hudson passenger train service, and was directly responsible for obtaining express service, off-peak service, and weekend service on the Pascack Valley Line.  Mr. Getz has been a member of the New Jersey Association of Railroad Passengers (NJ-ARP) for 29 years. He received the NJ-ARP Advocate for Rail Transit award for outstanding dedication to improved rail transportation in both 1990 and 2007. He is also a member of the Empire State Passengers Association (ESPA) and the National Association of Rail Passengers (NARP). 

Mr. Getz received his Bachelor of Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Master of Science from the Long Island University. He has been a Clarkstown resident for 38 years.
