No Injunction in NJ Case: Congestion Pricing Will Start Sunday

The following statement can be attributed to Lisa Daglian, Executive Director, Permanent Citizens Advisory Committee to the MTA (PCAC):    “This evening’s decision in support of congestion pricing marks yet another clear and welcome victory for riders on both sides of the Hudson. This is now the fourth time we’ve heard a judge rule in support of this first-in-the-nation program that will reduce congestion and allow traffic to move better for everyone in the congestion relief zone,  improve air quality, and raise funds for critical transit infrastructure investments.  Governor Murphy, enough is enough. Riders have won. Let’s focus on making transit better in New Jersey, even as we begin to reap the benefits of congestion pricing in New York.    “Mitigations have always been an important part of the MTA and FHWA’s extremely thorough evaluation process, but there’s no reason to delay improvements to millions of New Yorkers while the agency works out the details on additional projects for New Jersey.     “Congestion pricing will bring cleaner air, safer streets, and better transit to the entire region, and we are thrilled it’s moving forward this weekend.”
