MTA Board member Doreen Frasca was a guest of the NYCTRC at their June 25th meeting.  Ms. Frasca, who joined the Board in May 2008, was appointed by former Governor Spitzer.

She chairs the New York City Transit/MTA Bus Committee and serves on the Finance, CPOC, Audit, and Capital Construction/Planning and Real Estate Committees.   In her opening remarks Commissioner Frasca indicated how much she valued the work of the Council and PCAC and praised Chair Albert for his knowledge and insight about Transit operations.  She explained why she voted for the amended Atlantic Yards proposal and took many questions and comments from Council members and the public.  Commissioner Frasca also talked about the “Working Group” Committee she is heading up.  This group of MTA Board members is looking at ways to improve efficiency of the MTA .

Ms. Frasca specializes in providing strategic advice to the transportation sector on the financing of large, complex infrastructure projects. Her company, Frasca & Associates, offers financial advisory services, principally to airports and seaports. She has financed in excess of $20 billion in projects for U.S. airports, roads, rail, and bridges.

Commissioner Frasca was born in the Bronx and is a lifelong resident of New York City.  She attended Wheaton College (Phi Beta Kappa) and received her MBA from Columbia University.
