Judge Ruling Good News for Riders: Congestion Pricing Set for January 5th Start

The following statement can be attributed to Lisa Daglian, Executive Director, Permanent Citizens Advisory Committee to the MTA (PCAC):

“New Yorkers got good news today from Judge Leo M. Gordon, who ruled that Congestion Pricing can start as scheduled on January 5th.  The first-in-the-nation program will reduce traffic, improve air quality, and bring critical funding for essential transit infrastructure projects. It will also benefit drivers and New Jerseyans. From all accounts, Governor Hochul had offered to share funding with New Jersey Transit to ensure this vital program moves forward, reportedly to the tune of nine figures. Now it is up to Governor Murphy and his co-Plaintiffs to work in good faith to agree to a deal on further mitigations. But the big picture is good news for the economy, the environment, and the riders on both sides of the Hudson who depend on the transit system that is our region’s lifeblood.”
