LIRRCC, Assemblyman Lavine, and LIRR Discuss Oyster Bay Options

LIRRCC Chair Mark Epstein joined in a October 1 public discussion of options for implementing “scoot” shuttle service on the LIRR’s Oyster Bay Branch. The gathering was hosted by Assemblyman Charles Lavine. The LIRR is in the early stages of considering a service pattern that would have Oyster Bay Branch riders change to Main Line trains at Mineola to complete their trip. The possible change is prompted by an LIRR effort to make use of smaller and faster shuttle trains to serve riders on less busy branches in advance of the opening of the East Side Access project and service to Grand Central Terminal. Representing the Long Island Rail Road at the meeting were the LIRR’s Director of Government and Community Affairs Bob Brennan and the Rail Road’s General Manager of Service Planning Tim Keller.
