On Thursday, February 28, the Long Island Railroad Commuter Council had the privilege of touring both the Queens and Manhattan sections of the East Side Access construction project.
The tour began with a project overview of the project at the ESA office in Queens. The Council then geared up in hard hats and orange vests and made their way into the construction site where they had the opportunity to stand inside the future train tubes.
In Manhattan, the group again donned some hard hats and walked through the future concourse adjacent to Grand Central Terminal. They then took an elevator down to see the construction and were awed by the sheer magnitude of the project.
Everyone had a great day during this once in a lifetime experience.
