MTA Agrees to Study for Freedom Ticket Pilot

The NYCTRC is excited to learn that the MTA has decided to move forward with Freedom Ticket!

The Freedom Ticket pilot program will provide Southeast Queens and Brooklyn riders with lower LIRR city fares with a free transfer to NYC Transit subways and buses, which will save riders significant time and money. We learned at the MTA Board Meeting on Wednesday that the MTA will be designing the pilot program by this spring with a hopeful implementation this fall for trains operating out of Atlantic Terminal. The pilot program will last for six months during which the MTA will observe its success and determine its path forward. Freedom Ticket ideally will be implemented city-wide through a phased approach. Keep checking in here for the latest updates on Freedom Ticket’s progress.
