NY Legislature approves MTA Funding Bill

After months of wrangling, the New York State legislature finally passed a MTA financial plan that will stop the proposed ‘Doomsday’ service cuts and reduce the planned fare hike.   LIRRCC member Ira Greenberg (far right) greets Governor David Paterson at the May 7th morning press conference in the  6th Avenue B,D,F and V 42nd street station at Bryant Park.   The final bill (A8180/S5154) features a payroll tax and a surtax on driver licenses, car registrations, car rentals and taxi fares.
