PCAC Celebrates the Passage of the Rider Rep Act by the New York State Senate

The following statement can be attributed to Lisa Daglian, Executive Director of the Permanent Citizens Advisory Committee to the MTA:

“The Rider Representation Act will give everyday riders more of a say in the MTA’s operations and planning, giving riders not just a voice but a vote. Passing this legislation will allow our Board Members to make motions in support of fare discounts across the system – something they currently cannot do. Since its founding in 1981, PCAC has fought tirelessly to ensure the system gets the investment it needs, keeps fares reasonable, expands programs like Fair Fares to more low-income New Yorkers, and broadens ticket options – particularly for New Yorkers living in subway deserts. A huge thank you to Majority Leader Stewart-Cousins, Senator Gounardes, and his dedicated staff for fighting to ensure riders’ voices are heard in every corner of the MTA region, and congratulations on the bill’s passage in the New York State Senate earlier today! We look forward to the bill’s swift passage in the Assembly before the end of the legislative session.”
