MTA Doing the Right Thing with Death Benefit for Heroic Front-line Workers
The horrific toll that COVID-19 is taking on MTA workers is a grim – and growing – reminder of their status as heroic front-line essential personnel. The tragic deaths of 59 (as of this writing) men and women who move New York remind us that we too often take for granted the important role transit workers play in our lives every day. The MTA is doing the right thing with the agreement to institute this death benefit and the commitment to quickly get funds to grieving families. Nothing can bring them back, but there can be some solace in knowing families will be taken care of during this terrible time.
