Gene Haynes
Dr. Gene Haynes joins PCAC as a lifelong transit enthusiast and a passionate advocate for safe, efficient public transportation. As a proud graduate of Transit Tech High School, Dr. Haynes started his career at MTA NYC Transit as an intern in the System Safety Department. This role led to his first full-time position as a Project Coordinator, where he worked on ground breaking projects, including Automatic Train Supervision and CBTC.
Dr. Haynes’ career continued to evolve as he took on roles such as Light Rail Operator, Training Manager, and Rules Examiner for the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail System. He also served as a Safety Instructor for the RTD Denver Rail System and as the Alternate Reporting Officer to the Federal Railroad Administration.
Beyond his work in transit, Dr. Haynes is the author of The Mystical Closet, a children’s book about mass transit that he recently self-published.
With his unique experience as a transit rider, front line employee, and manager, Dr. Haynes brings a comprehensive understanding of the industry. He is also a college professor and has begun developing programs and initiatives to address the growing problem of subway surfing, an issue that resonates deeply with him.
Dr. Haynes holds a Bachelor’s degree in Transportation Planning and Management, a Master’s in Business Administration and Technology Management, and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership and Management.
