Richard Tjoa
Richard Tjoa has been a daily rider of Metro-North’s Port Jervis line since 2011. As a member of the MNRCC, he hopes to improve transit access for people with disabilities, enhance rider experience, advance West-of-Hudson and tri-state transportation solutions from a holistic perspective, encourage transit-oriented development, and further regional housing+transporation affordability.
Mr. Tjoa is an Analyst with Honzak & Honzak, a Lower Manhattan-based commercial real estate energy billing consultancy. His work frequently takes him throughout New York City and the tri-state area, utilizing much of the mass transit in the region including Metro-North, NJ Transit, PATH, subway, local & regional buses, and ferries. He had previously served on PATH’s Patron Advisory Committee.
A lifelong Rockland County resident, Mr. Tjoa graduated from Ramapo High School before receiving his B.S. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and Kennedy Interdisciplinary Studies award in American Government & Institutions from the University of California, Berkeley, and Certificate in Non-Profit Sustainability from Cornell Cooperative Extension. He resides in Suffern with his wife and two children.
