The Passing of a Great Colleague, Transit Advocate, and Dear Friend: MNRCC’s Orrin Getz

Our dear friend and colleague, Orrin Getz, passed away yesterday, March 21, 2022. Orrin was a fierce advocate for Metro-North riders and served as the Metro-North Railroad Commuter Council’s (MNRCC) Vice Chair. He fought to improve the daily commutes of MNR riders, advocating for improved service especially for West-of-Hudson riders.

Orrin was a long-time resident of Clarkstown, NY with a long history of transit advocacy. He was a member of the New Jersey Association of Railroad Passengers (NJ-ARP), where he received the NJ-ARP Advocate for Rail Transit award twice, and was a member of the Empire State Passengers Association (ESPA) and the National Association of Rail Passengers (NARP). He will be greatly missed and his advocacy work leaves a lasting legacy.

Funeral services will be held today in New City, NY with a committal service in Paramus, NJ. Click the following link for details: https://www.dignitymemorial.com/obituaries/spring-valley-ny/orrin-getz-10637473
