Metro-North Railroad Commuter Council
The Metro-North Railroad Commuter Council (MNRCC) was created by the New York State Legislature in 1981 as the official voice of Metro-North Railroad riders. Our 12 volunteer members are appointed by the Governor upon the recommendation of the Westchester, Dutchess, Putnam, Orange, and Rockland County Executives, and the Bronx Borough President, and one member with expertise in bike and pedestrian access.
MNRCC Mission Statement
The MNRCC is the official voice of Metro-North Railroad commuters. The Council advocates for safe, regular, and reliable MNR service by providing constructive feedback to MNR management and the MTA Board in the formulation and implementation of policies and service for both East- and West-of-Hudson Metro-North commuters.
MNRCC Goals:
- To hold Metro-North Railroad management and the MTA Board accountable to the users of its services;
- To investigate, monitor, and make recommendations to MNR management regarding service delivery, customer safety, communications, finance, and capital projects, including accessibility;
- To assure the timely capital investment in and maintenance and upgrade of MNR facilities, including stations, rolling stock, and infrastructure;
- To advocate for more equitable fares to increase affordable access to MNR services;
- To ensure appropriate levels of service for West-of-Hudson riders over NJ Transit facilities;
- To promote the use of commuter rail service in Westchester, Dutchess, Putnam, Orange, Rockland and Bronx counties.
